No new puzzles since 3/4/07

I appreciate how busy you get. Just a little reminder that the daily nightmare hasn't changed since 3/4.
Warmest regards,

Pete, I've found, as I use 'cue to learn to recognize kites and fish etc and expecially coloring, creating a second SudoCue instance and using that to experimentally place something without making the puzzle 'invalid' or losing my coloring (as with Solve from Here). You can run as many instances as ...

Thanks folks. Those fins drive me nuts. The solver points them out and I try to understand the valid conditions. Once of these days...
I did have fun creating the image in photoshop and figuring out how to imbed it. So learning did occur :)

rep'nA, I appreciate your interest and consideration. However, even converting your answer to the 'Cue default row/column numbering(I changed my row/column numbering scheme to conform with a site I frequent, http://sudoku.com.au), I'm not sure I understand your answer. r1c3 doesn't contain a 6 in ei...

Solving Hierarchy

Sensei Ruud, Status: v. 2.2.0.0, all solving tools enabled. Illustration included: I got to a point in an 'unfair' puzzle. The Vague Hint reported my next step would be a Medusa Bridge, which means (to me) start coloring a [bivalue cell] candidate and follow the event chain, etc. A step I consider s...

Open WWW

For the last several days, 'Cue 2.2.0.0 has been downloading the same 'daily nightmare' puzzle. If this is a website issue and not a software issue, I apologize. I don't know if you (Ruud) are also integral to maintaining the website from a technical standpoint as you are, as I think of you, Sensei ...

If the LEDs toggle, can't simply ctrl-keypad do, as you say, remove any keystroked candidates within the group of selected cells? I've noticed the keypad doesn't add candidates where they don't belong at the same time as removing warranted candidates. A tribute to how sophisticated and intuitive 'Cu...

I found the same issue with the ctrl-keypad that exists with the LEDs. For removal of all candidates, you need to, where possible, select a cell with all the removable candidates last.

Thanks Dave, for bringing that series of posts to my attention. 'Cue has really brought me far along in recognizing (through much repetition and the 'long descriptions' feature) many of the tools in my arsenal. I guess as I learn to spot disjoint subsets, as with hidden trips, quads etc., I'll more ...

the LEDs

In another post I reported that using ctrl to select multiple cells then using ctrl-keypad is usually ineffective since one or more of the candidates is not removed. Example: r1c1-r1c3 contains a naked triple for 138. If one uses ctrl and highlights the other cells in box one and/or the remaining ce...

Thanks, I appreciate your time. The only problem with that solution (as well as my copying/pasting the marks to clear the invalid): I had been coloring a LONG string of pairs, made a wrong conclusion about what a cell "had" to be, and it came up invalid. By resetting the 'invalid' I lost a...

Double-click issue

I've found on a couple of occasions that after using Sudocue heavily, my Scrollwheel [middle button] double-click stops working outside the program. I don't know if it was a fluke or a problem unrelated to SudoCue but I thought it worth mentioning in the event that others also experienced it. Suppor...

Broader WWW and Import support

Would be great to have a "Select from Daily Nightmare Archive" option, similar to the one in Clueless Helper, in the Open WWW menu. While you've done a great job with import support, many sites don't have an ASCII option and trying to copy/paste the clues doesn't seem to work. Is it possib...

2.2.0.0 issues/bugs

While this problem is somewhat intermittent, it happens enough that I'm here writing about it. I find that using ctrl/keypad to remove candidates easier than right-clicking once for each candidate. However, many times when I select multiple cells, within one house or spanning more (as when a naked p...

I appreciate the fast reply.. I know you're busy. I went to that page. Maybe it's your writing style or that you use several examples with the pics and the arrows when demonstrating a technique, but when you do it, I (eventually) grasp it. I'm still not getting what line/box interactions would invit...
