SAMURAI #71

This Samurai should be rated "2 Easy." The center (solution) sudoku solves using only hidden and naked singles. I did not solve for a single digit in any of the four constituent puzzles. :(

Clueless Explosion Borge #1

Well Done, Borge!! For Lynn and others, I have a Borge's Explosion in .clu format so that it can be loaded into Clueless Helper. I'll post it here if anyone knows how to attach a file to these messages. Alternatively, if you send me a private message with an email address, I will email the file to y...

The chain is a classic Forcing Chain, but you do not need to consider R8C1=5, just R9C1.
Ruud's suggestion is good one since it simplifies the logical chain.

Also, consider the converse by assuming that r9c7=8, giving
(8=7)r9c2=(3)r7c2=(5)r8c3=>r9c1<>5

Possible Virus

Ruud,

I went to the "sudokuchampions.com" web site and my virus program immediately gave me an alert that the file "sudokuchampions[1].htm" contained a virus.

If you can confirm, I suggest that you remove both of queenofnumbers' posts from your web site.

Samurai #44

Hi Ruud, The puzzle is excellent...and deceptively difficult. At about the 15 minute point I had completely solved the LR constituent puzzle and the UR puzzle awaited but one input from the solution puzzle. At this point I thought I would be done by 20 minutes. :P Well, 15 minutes later,...

Computer Assistance

I thought we had this all worked out in April. Contest solvers would use the Clueless Helper or multiple Sudocues, but not outside computer program assistance. The concept is to have a level playing field, which makes for a better contest. And besides, as TK went to pains to point out, what's the po...

To compensate your loss of fun, I posted a new very hard for the coming week. You definitely need an advanced step to solve the blue grid. Be careful what you ask for... Ruud And so you did!! Clueless Special #79 was great and up to its rating! In fact, it could be said that one needed as...

Clueless Special #66

Clearly overrated. I agree with the above comments. The solution puzzle gave up 38 cells before looking at any of the constituent puzzles...all 38 as singles & hidden singles. In fact, the solution puzzle can be solved only using hidden singles. Constituent puzzles 3 & 6 were the only pieces...

Assassin 63 V2

Hi all. This is my first effort to write a walk through. Some of my notation may not be correct or standard. Also, I suspect that there are unneeded entries, as this was a "stream of consciousness" solution. Suggestions welcome. Here goes for V2.... a. Automatic cleanup after placing each ...

Well done, Yuri. I have taken up your challenge...."Pencil, paper, rubber and, at the most, Ruud's Clueless solver!!!" Limiting computer assistance to the Clueless Helper levels the playing field, makes for a better contest, and is certainly a more satisfying way to solve the puzzles. But ...

To Lynn & Glyn

LYNN. I stand by my statement. No mods, no non-Ruud program, no magic. Given the relative difficulty of the various puzzles (not necessarily the given rating), some of Pete's times are more impressive. By far, however, the most spectacular time posted belongs to Richard Broughton on Clueless Special...
