im not sure i agree with paras rating sure the beginning is easy but then it grinds to a halt and becomes horrible is it possible that para is really rather good and cant see the difficulties others may have? Check my walk-through. I think you'll have to agree with the way i solved it, it is a 1.00...

Assassin 77

Hi all This is an odd puzzle. The opening is very easy, after that i think there's very little places to progress but i think my path probably is the shortest to finish it. For me it's a rating 1.00. Walk-through Assassin 77 1. 11(3) at R1C1 and R5C1 = {128/137/146/236/245}: no 9 2. R34C1 = {39/48/5...

Whilst creating this puzzle, I made a discovery (probably common knowledge amongst puzzle makers?). As seems to have often been the case recently, Ruud's cage pattern for the A76 turned out to be very complex. In other words, my (admittedly ropey and old) software was struggling to come up with any...

Hi all Nice puzzle. Actually did something on the diagonal this time. Although i am not sure that step is really needed, just very clear. I think this puzzle is a rating 1.25, 1.5 is a bit high as it doesn't require much finesse. I think step 18 is the most important step because that single elimina...

Hi By the time i wrote that message i didn't know it's name either. I once wrote out a bit in the sudoku.com forum too ( http://www.sudoku.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=42236#42236 ), mostly about the further implications of this technique. There no-one could inform me about the name of the technique e...

Hi Here's a link to something udosuk wrote about y-wings, xy-wings and xyz-wings. http://www.djape.net/sudoku/forum/viewtopic.php?t=963 Think that will be clear enough. If you want i can show you the steps i did for this puzzle. greetings Para ps. officially one of the y-wings, should have been term...

edited to add: I've finished 76 - I think my walkthrough looks different - but think it must be because I over-complicated things - so not sure if any point in posting - seeing as there are already some great walkthroughs already posted. You could always post your walk-through if you want some poin...

Nightmare November 9th

Hi Ruud

I know there usually isn't much feedback from the nightmare puzzles. I just wanted to say that todays puzzle was a real beauty. Enjoyed solving it. Besides the standard sudoku techniques i used 2 y-wings and 1 xy-wing to open up the puzzle. Finally a BUG+1 to crack it.

greetings

Unfortunately it doesn't help: I'm still in the "relegation zone"... :( You could always catch up by posting a message at midnight saying that the assassin looks great and you can't wait to solve it. Para ps. Do you think there is a benchmark at 350 messages? pps. On the TJK 32: i ...

Hi

A24-Tetris is of the original puzzle. I think the addition Tetris is from Ruud's description in referring to the Tetris game because of the many tetromino shaped cages in the puzzle.

ps. Cathy does have the notion of writing the first message without a WT just after her lunch break

Hi all With Cathy's reassurance that it was only a rating 1.00, i thought i'd send in my First V1 walk-through since ages. And it proved to be a quickie. Took me about 40 minutes to solve with keeping the walk-through. A rating of 1.00 sounds about right. Not anything spectacular. Walk-through Assas...

Toroidal Killer Sudoku

Hi all I have been planning to make a toroidal killer sudoku for a while. Well here is my first attempt. So instead of 9 3X3 nonets, we have 9 jigsaw nonets that wrap around the grid. I have coloured the nonets to make it easier to recognize which cells belong together in a nonet. There is also a Su...

I particularly liked your step 7. Very clever, and also instrumental in solving this puzzle. :D I like that one too. Found when making the V2's. It is in all A44 puzzles. I think i used a similar step once in another puzzle. Now (finally!) all naked singles to end. You can blame Ruud for that one. ...
