Para, JC, Glyn, and Ruud: I want to thank each and every one of you for the time you have taken to help me try to understand the LoL technique. Spending some quiet time this afternoon, I was able to grasp the reason behind the C12 LoL. I now understand the idea of the common cells and the two sets t...

JC and Para, I really appreciate you trying to help me. I understand that the C12 LoL is a complex implmentation of the rule. I will study in more detail the answers both of you provided this evening. However, let me quote JC: ===== "The green cells are in common. The yellow cells must hold the...

Jean-Christophe, Thank you for your excellent reply. I understand the examples you have provided. Your second example has just one portion in n3 (blue ABC) as an outie and one portion of another nonet (yellow ABC) as an innie My confusion is the fact that using the LoL for c12 is more complex, since...

Para and Glyn, Thanks for the explanations. I may be getting closer. My one last question (for now anyway) is to understand why the innies and outies have to balance out. I have reviewed the graphical examples posted by Para, especially the one in "Jigsaw 32". I recognize that column 1 + c...

Jigsaw 43

All, So many have helped me on the jigsaw topic in the last week or so. I appreciate your efforts. I am having trouble understanding which cells to use to the left or right of the line (if a vertical line). Take the subject puzzle for instance. Near the end of the puzzle there is a hint about LoL on...

Again thanks to all the folks that are helping myself and others to understand the LoL concept. SudokuEd: I can see the 3 sets above and below the line (8 cell, 5 cell, and another 5 cell). What I am having trouble visualizing is why the above and below the line cells are complimentary to each other...

Para and Glyn, Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out with this puzzle. I have to admit that I still am lost for the next hint from sumoCue. I used the same method to check Rows 8-9 and Column 1-2 and 8-9 in a similat fashion to the explation of Rows 1-2 above. I saw nothing that eliminat...

Sue de Coq Help Needed

All, I am hoping someone can help me in understanding the criteria for the subject technique. Please use the Sudopedia example for this technique in any replies. The following is a quote from the Sudopedia: "The Sue de Coq technique uses two intersecting sets A and B, where A is a set of N cell...

Hi Ruud,

Is there some additional guidance you can provide as to the rating versus what techniques are required? For example, is there a way to tell if techniques x-wing and below plus law of leftovers are all that is required to solve a partuclar puzzle.

George

Hi Ruud, Just curious if your overlapping program can create puzzles with specific techniques required (or allowed) like SudoCue? In other words, have you set it up where you pick the techniques from a list or are they just hard-coded into the program? These overlapping puzzles are just great. They ...

One other thought. When will Ruud be issuing a Clueless Helper for this puzzle. LOL LOL

I personnaly have trouble trying to do 5 things at once, but 26? If I could do 26 things at once, my boss would be really pleased.

Good job, Ruud!!!!

Regards,
George
