SudoCue Release 3.2.0 (beta)

Post by Ruud »

A new version of SudoCue lies on the shelf.

I'd like to introduce a short beta period just to make sure no errors escaped my attention, despite the intense testing.

If you are happy with your current version of the program, do not upgrade.

If you are interested in:
  • A timer that automatically starts when you load a puzzle and stops when you completed it;
  • An advanced pencilmark filter that allows you to gradually add pencilmarks for each digit or row, column, box;
  • A new pencilmark option that only shows which candidates are eliminated in addition to those purged by the givens and other placements;
  • An (optional) automated check to see if you have the latest version;
  • Fixes to all bugs reported on version 3.1.0;
  • < and > keys which now skip numbers which are completely solved;
  • A program which is largely translatable in any language;
  • nrc(t)-chains,
you might want to consider downloading this file and upgrade to version 3.2.0.

I do not have the time nor the language skills to translate the program into other languages. If anyone wants to volunteer as a translator, send me a PM or email, so that we can prevent multiple people from doing the same work.

Enjoy the new version!

Hi

Just one question. Why doesn't it show the difficulty of the puzzle in the lower left corner anymore?

greetings

It does show at my computer. Can you email me a screenprint? Maybe it is "pushed" off the status bar for some reason. You could also check the generator tab in the Options dialog to make sure that the name for each level is properly entered.

Hi

Ok, it works normally now, but the problems stays when optimizing a puzzle. I sometimes to take easy puzzles or handmade sudokus and optimize them to get a tougher puzzle(something like the monday-thursday puzzle preferrably). Except now it doesn't show the difficulty after optimizing. Sometimes i get these sunday puzzles i rather not tackle because i know they're a bit over the top for me.

I could always copy-paste the clues to get the difficulty.

greetings

Ruud, two problems:

1) The pairs filter no longer works

2) If you right-click on the bottom row, the box that appears goes behind the Markup LEDs.

Two other items of weirdness:

If you click on the "No Uniqueness" button under Solver methods, The "Full House" method is turned off. You don't notice it, however, until you close and re-open that box.

Also, when you click "Solve From Here", The score and rating for the puzzle does not update like it used to.

Thanks. I'll try to have these issues fixed by the end of this week.

Sorry to jump in late.

Remote Pairs are not perfectly shown, and not at all explained in "long description".

In this markup, if remote pairs is set very early, you will see r7c1 "highlighted" yet it should not be, as it will confuse some people.

There is no "long description".
