I'm running 3.1.0.0 and it doesn't find it either. Just for completeness I assume you mean the one that requires r9c3=6 to avoid the UR. So either the UR detection is slightly defective or the hierarchy of techniques is not being followed rigidly.

nj3h I think it may be a matter of trial and error much the same as with Sudocue where valid grids have then to be solved with a limited subset of logical techniques. The number of grids increases the complexity of coming up with the requisite level. Note the problems that Borge is having at the mom...

The simplest way forward is the XY-wing that Sudocue gives. As a chain that reads (5=3)r8c3-(3=7)r7c2-(7=5)r7c4 => r8c4<>5. Singles from here. I think you are looking for an ALS type elimination. I suppose being Easter we should have come up with a Outer Grids that generate the Easter Monster in the Clueless grid, that would stall the logical solvers for a while.

Richard. As we are discussing Clueless here, the Generalized Fish mentioned in my PM actually contain centre dots as one of the constraint sets. I'll check out the latest solver to see if some of my comments are now out of date. From experience in solving these I always visit the Clueless grid first...
