I use patterns. I generated this puzzle in SE, I think.
SA (Havard's) SS and SE see it as patterns. Sudoku Cue cannot solve it with my settings. My guess is that Turbots are not covered by your methods, specifically skyscraper, a grouped x-wing, and a Turbot.

Code: Select all

. 1 2 | . 7 . | . . 8
3 . . | . . 1 | . . .
8 . 7 | . 2 . | 1 . .
---------------------
. . . | . . 6 | . 4 .
1 . 4 | . 8 . | 6 . 2
. 2 . | 1 . . | . . .
---------------------
. . 6 | . 1 . | 2 . 5
. . . | 6 . . | . . 4
4 . . | . 9 . | 8 7 .
I suspect that ER should have caught it?
Else, I think skyscraper/grouped-x should be a toggle.

Edited to add: I am using 2.1 Beta.

Hi zoltag,

with full throttle, SudoCue uses:
- Swordfish
- Remote Pair
- Empty Rectangle
- Simple colors (Color Trap)

I could not see a Skyscraper move that could replace any of these moves.
Grouped-X is a superset of Empty Rectangle.

I like the simplicity of Skyscraper. It will be added to the arsenal of SudoCue in one of the next releases.

cheers,
Ruud

Great news!

Here is the step that SA sees that Sudoku Cue uses colours for (I think?)
It is a two string kite. ( a Turbot?)

Code: Select all

.---------------.---------------.---------------.
|*59 1 2 | 359 7 359 | 4 6 8 |
| 3 4 *59 | 8 6 1 |*579 2 79 |
| 8 6 7 | 459 2 459 | 1 59 3 |
:---------------+---------------+---------------:
|*579 789 3589| 2 35 6 |#39-5 4 1 |
| 1 359 4 | 3579 8 3579| 6 359 2 |
| 6 2 359 | 1 4 59 | 3579 8 79 |
:---------------+---------------+---------------:
| 79 3789 6 | 47 1 478 | 2 39 5 |
| 2 5789 3589| 6 35 78 | 39 1 4 |
| 4 35 1 | 35 9 2 | 8 7 6 |

I thought sashimi x wing covers sky, it does, here is an example.

Edited to correct "Sashimi".

Code: Select all

.---------------.---------------.---------------.
| 127 27 13 | 23 8 5 | 6 9 4 |
| 69 68 38 | 39 7 4 | 1 2 5 |
| 4 5 29 | 29 6 1 | 8 3 7 |
:---------------+---------------+---------------:
| 1279 28 18 | 67 4 679 | 3 5 129 |
| 5 4 79 | 1 3 2 | 79 8 6 |
| 1279 3 6 | 78 5 789 | 24 147 129 |
:---------------+---------------+---------------:
| 8 1 27 | 4 9 37 | 5 6 23 |
| 3 67 4 | 5 2 678 | 79 17 189 |
| 267 9 5 | 678 1 3678| 24 47 238 |
'---------------'---------------'---------------'
So, sky is a Turbot, as is 2 string kite.
You don't need to add coding for sky, just text, I guess.
2 string kite would be nice to add?

I thought that grouped x was: x-wing, finned-x-wing and skyscraper (sashimi-x).

What is grouped-x?

Here is an example:

Image

You could decide to use colors or use this Grouped-X loop:

Code: Select all

(X): r8c2-r4c2=r4c789-r6c789=r6c5-r79c5=r8c46-r8c2 => r8c2<>X
Skyscraper only replicates Sashimi X-Wing with a single fin cell. With 2 fin cells, it's not a Skyscraper. See: Sudopedia on this subject.

OK, Sashimi is older than skyscraper? Cool!

Who started Sashimi, who started skyscraper?
