Here an improved version. It is solvable, rated Moderate and as far as I can tell has one solution only.

A paper version will follow tomorrow. (Here is the downloadable paper version.)

Well, I tried it too. When I got stuck I revisited here for a look if I had missed something and luckily found the new version.

A very nice puzzle! =D> Thanks a lot, Børge!

I, too, started that puzzle. I had rated it Vicious after the first round. I just finished going around the 4th time (with no effect) and decided to rate it Demonic (that's worse than Ruudiculous). Decided to see if anyone else got anywhere with it. I feel better now, and am looking forward to tomorrow.

Borge - Three cheers for you for taking this on. Your efforts are appreciated!

How can I copy-paste the puzzle into the CluelessHelper program?

Børge,

I just want to say that this is really impressive stuff that you're coming up with! It's quite exciting to watch a new puzzle factory develop so quickly, and not have to wait a "mere" 23,598,501,737,323 years, as you mentioned in your Word document. :!:

I'm sure that once you've got the hang of it, and are able to optimize the process, your Clueless Explosions will be every match for the official ones from Ruud.

And, talking of Ruud, I think he's going to be in for quite a surprise when he gets back and finds out what's been happening!

All the best and keep up the great work!

Unfortunately there is no way to copy/paste outsider Explosions into the Clueless Helper. One possibility is to load up Ruud's latest Explosion, clear out the givens (type 0 on the squares), and type in the given's for Børge's new puzzle. Time consuming, yes, but doable. You can, however, import the puzzle into rcbroughton's Sudoku Solver.

I tried this last night, but then could not get back on here to post my reaction. Sweet little puzzle, not too hard.

Thanks for the effort!!!

I don't have Ruud's software [I use library computers & so can't load anything external], so I take his 9 rows of #s, run through a Word macro to position & sub tabs between #s & nulls for 0s, then load to an Excel template.
For this one, I just grabbed the #s, subbed 0 for ., and continued as usual.

Well, first I tried opening 10 times SudoCue and doing manually the syncronization. After two hours I got stuck :x but then:

That took 30 minutes to do and 60 to solve :D , now I have an empty CluelessHelper configured for Clueless Explosions

and so I am now trying to build such a template for the future...

It is good to have the possibility to enjoy again Clueless Explosions. Thank you very much Børge =D>

Here is a downloadable paper version of the improved version.

Thanks for all the praise.

The problem is that I ran out of time, so in a crunch I went from far too few to far too many givens causing the puzzle to go from unsolvable monster to pretty tame.

I like to think that I learned a lot from my first attempt and after a good night’s sleep (with some background processing) I am full of new ideas of how to make hopefully more challenging puzzles in a fraction of the time I spent yesterday, i.e. in about 1 hour instead of the 9-10 hours I used yesterday. I’ll give it a try over the weekend and keep you posted.

One thing that I have learned from natural science is that if you are not willing to make failures, and sometimes a big fool of yourself, you will never have successes. Back at the university a professor mine used to say “The road to every success is paved with failures”. I sure hope that this road will be an extremely short one.

You may want to take a look at the sheets "Gattai-10_DG1C" and "Gattai-10_DG1B" in the file "TUSP Sheets .xls" HERE. With copy and paste you can create your own unlocked versions in mere seconds.

In my previous post I forgot to ask the following question:

If I make further Clueless Explosions (and possible also some Clueless Specials) is a paper version required, and if yes also the one with pencil marks?

Hoi,

I did make the explosion you make, in the clueless helper, ik open the last explosion, en delete al the given numbers.
Now i have an empty cluelesshelper and put your given numbers in there.
I need only the code you give, i copy and past in the sudocue, en typet in the good cells from the clueless helper.

Thanks for this first one :D

A paper version would be appreciated (no pencil marks necessary).

Thank you very much for the puzzle, Borge! =D>
