I'm not really familiar with Clueless, so I have no idea if you find these easy or not. IMHO, they should be easy.

Great, then I can stop my work on this.

Explosion #1 has naked and hidden singles ONLY. Extremely easy!

Explosion #2 is a nice puzzle with an X-Wing. Took me 15 minutes to solve. I would rate it a Ruud Tough.

Great to hear that, J-C!

Børge, why stop now, after all the great work you've done? As you may have seen, there are several members on the Assassin forum who post puzzles, which is great. Much better than if the whole weight of responsibility rests on just one person's shoulders...

What I particularly like about your posts is the insight you're giving us into the creation of these beasts, and how you are involving the rest of the "team". Although I haven't done a Clueless yet, I'm very interested in what's going on, and enjoy reading your posts very much.

Maybe I've misread your comment, and you meant stopping work on your planned upcoming CE, rather than stopping your attempts to create them in general? I hope so!

Explosion #3 is MUCH, MUCH harder than a Ruud "Very Hard".
After consulting SudoCue this looks like another Clueless Explosion Nightmare.

EDIT:
I got it solved. Now my braincells beg for rest, so I'll goto bed. Enough nightmares for one day.

Wow number #4 is a real corker JC, I can confirm it is logically solvable, though I have yet to attempt it unaided. #3 was scary enough.

Better make that 2 weeks off FirstOfNine. :)

What I had in mind was to completely stop my attempts to create them in general, but your encouragement kept me going. :D

My method for generating a Clueless Explosion (CE) is fairly manual. The generation itself only requires SadMan and SudoCue. Instead of SadMan, SumoCue can probably be used, but I have not looked into that yet. For evaluating the result I use SudokuSolver. Generating a CE takes approx 20 minutes. Since it is so simple I will write a small guide on how to do it and post is here in this thread.

When I have published my guide and people see how simple it is, I hope that many others will feel inclined to make CE puzzles post them here.

You're welcome, Børge! I'm sure I'm not the only one around here that is very happy that you decided to continue. :D

It's interesting to note that in the last couple of weeks, there have been more posts to this forum than in the whole history of the forum before that! With all this current interest, I am optimistic that JSudoku will support Clueless puzzles soon, and am also confident that Richard will be more than willing to consider making further enhancements to SudokuSolver for this format.

This, together with the excellent work you're putting in (and which others will hopefully help continue), will ensure that those visiting this forum will have no shortage of puzzles to get their teeth into!

...but, until such time that the automated solvers have built-in support for generation of high-quality CEs, absolutely invaluable.

That's a great goal. I'm quite busy at the moment, but will certainly be looking to see if I can do anything to help.

Keep up the great work, Børge :salut:. But please make sure you pace yourself!

I'm finally getting a chance to work through the Explosion of new Explosions that Børge and Jean-Christophe have posted. Many thanks to both of you for sharing.

Well, it can be solved by logic... but not by my poor brain

Sorry for causing confusion. My post was ment as a note to Richard. The JSudoku output is however very interesting. Please also produce one for the Clueless Easter Monster!
