Scramble LITE.

Post by zoltag »

I know that scramble could protect most symmetry and still change
puzzles enough that they would be new.

Pretty much I'd like three remake settings.

"Renumber" should be a toggle. It can help people see
that shuffling has no true effect on a puzzle.

"Shuffle", that is movements that do not ruin symmetry
and yet change a puzzle's appearance.

A good shuffle is to take the top 3X9 and swap it with the bottom 3X9.
Now take the left 9X3 and swap it with the right 9X3.

Symmetry is preserved and you have a very new look.

There are row/column swaps as well.

"Scramble" is aptly named. I way prefer symmetry, many don't care!

Ping.

If you don't like the idea, ok, I'd like to know that you considered it.

The "shuffle" function would be dependent on the current symmetry type. There aren't many shuffle possibilities for diagonal symmetry types.

Anyhow, I'll put it on the wishlist, but it has a low priority.

I have tested the "shuffle" that I suggested and it does work on diagonal and 180 symmetry. Vertical and horizontal work, of course.

I just checked 90 degree.

All symmetries that I have checked survive block swap, of the outers.
Horizontal, vertical, diagonal, both diagonal, 180, 90.

I would way more, might use , (I never use current) scramble if the resulting puzzle was symmetrical!

To simplify the code, and change the puzzle more I'd like "shuffle" to:

Swap top 3X9 with bottom 3X9.
Rotate grid 90 degrees.
Swap top 3X9 with bottom 3X9.

This does what I asked before and makes most patterns 90 degrees off
what they were.

It is far better than your current shuffle.

Why would it be a low priority, considering that you worked to make shuffle an option?

Who wants an un-symmetric puzzle? Anyone??

Sheesh :!:

I actually got a request from somebody if I could include asymmetrical sudokus in the Lite series.

OK? 180 degree symmetry is (I think) asymmetry.

Un-symmetry is random. Asymmetry does have some pattern, I thought.

Well, if it is possible, optimize might be allowed to save "some" symmetry.

It should not be requireed to save all symmetry.
