SumoCue and Law of Leftovers

Post by mhparker »

Hi Ruud,

I notice there has been quite a lot of activity on the forum recently regarding Law of Leftovers, and understanding how SumoCue is arriving at the eliminations shown when stepping through the puzzle.

Half the battle seems to be in determining which boxes (out of the ones intersecting the rows/columns mentioned) are being used for the elimination(s).

Therefore, would it be possible for you to include the boxes (or "jigsaw pieces", as you call them) that are being used in the status text message in a future version of SumoCue?

For example, instead of simply displaying:

"Law of Leftovers eliminations in columns 1-2",

I was thinking about something like:

"Law of Leftovers eliminations in columns 1-2 (J17)",

where J17 implies jigsaw pieces 1 and 7.

This would be a great help. Counting the nonets from left-to-right, top-to-bottom is usually much easier than trying to deduce the jigsaw pieces involved by trying to work backwards from the eliminations shown, especially for beginners.
Cheers,
Mike
